NZITO is a charitable trust and a recognised Industry Training Organisation (ITO) that is gazetted by NZ Government to set standards at Levels 1 to 8 on the National Qualifications Framework for the dairy manufacturing industry, the meat processing industry (excluding poultry), the seafood industry, the leather manufacturing industry, the meat inspection industry, the baking yeasts manufacturing industry and fellmongery. We were the first ITO established under the Industry Training Act (1992) and have grown to be the most cost effective and largest ITO (in trainee numbers) in New Zealand.

The key functions of an ITO are to;

• Provide advice, assistance and expertise in training and development
• Set and review qualifications for a given industry covered by the ITO
• Co-ordinate the delivery of nationally recognised qualifications and training standards
• To provide support to industry via grants and resources for training to national standards
• to provide leadership to their industries on skill and training matters, identify current and future skill needs, and work with employers and employees to meet those needs

NZITO will act as a broker for a companies training needs coordinating this through our national training support centre at the Innovation Park, Ruakura, Hamilton. From here our Training Advisors can assist you to find the best training option, choice of training provider, arrange for appropriate qualifications and confirm the training delivery requirements. We also have Training Account Coordinators who are our field representatives and who visit clients to ensure their training needs are being met.

There are a number of options you can take for your staff from National Certificate level training through to Diplomas and even Masters Degrees in some fields. Training delivery may include;

• On job training
• Off job training
• Recognition of current competence (RCC)
• Recognition of prior learning
• A mix of training options

Our staff can also undertake a training needs analysis, and using the RCC process can identify current skill levels and training needs for the employee.
