The New Zealand Industry Training Organisation operates on a user pays basis and it also offers employers training subsidies, for certain programmes. These subsidies are administered on behalf of the Ministry of Education and the Tertiary Education Commission. To qualify for funding support an employee must first meet the following criteria.

Have a signed Training Agreement in place.

• The agreement must run for the defined timing duration and lead to a qualification
• The agreement must be for at least 20 credits and no more than 70 Credits of training per year
• The training must be based on unit standards from the National Qualifications Framework.
• The training must be delivered by a New Zealand Industry Training Organisation accredited training provider.

Government policy changes require training to be completed in set timeframes and with a minimum 80% completion rate. Finishing early or late will result in reduced funding. Non completion will result in no funding being available.

Training subsidies will be identified in the quotation and will be paid upon completion of the training programme.
